Open Call

N.A.W.’s core mission is to question historically unchallenged narratives. Through writing and multi-disciplinary expression, its aim is to weave new voices into the dominant chorus of architecture’s story, helping to position critical thinking, dialogue and narration as a means of influencing how the architecture profession itself might evolve. The strength of this mission rests on the composition of the programme’s cohort members. Since foundation, N.A.W. has recruited members through a democratic open call, inviting any person of colour aged below 30 and living in London to apply. To date, submissions have been assessed by three criteria: Ideas, Argument, and Expression.

  • Aged 30 or under, or be within 5 years of receiving your most recent
  • People of colour
  • Aged 30 or under, or be within 5 years of receiving your most recent educational qualification
  • Resident in London
  • Able to commit to meeting in person roughly one evening per fortnight

  • An original piece of writing on a contemporary issue for an architectural audience. 500 words so succinctness is key. Your brief is to write a short article for an architectural audience.
